CLA National Forum 2016 - The Final National Conference

1-3 June 2016 Ottawa, ON

The CLA Annual Conference has been renamed the CLA National Forum for its final incarnation. The membership voted to dissolve the Canadian Library Association at the 2016 Ontario Library Association Conference. CLA will be reconstituted as a federation of Canadian library associations. Under the current plan there will be no personal memberships, though if you belong to any Canadian library association at either the provincial or national level that is a member of the new federation, you will also be a member of the new federation.

Final TSN Business Meeting

When CLA dissolves at the end of June 2016, so will all of its networks, including Technical Services Network, leaving Canada without any national association dedicated to technical services. TSN and TSIG before it have played an important role providing a forum for technical services issues and training. TSN also plays the important role of naming members to the Canadian Committee on Cataloguing (CCC) and the Canadian Committee on Metadata Exchange, which represent Canada's voice in the development of important international standards such as RDA and MARC/BIBFRAME.

At the final Business Meeting of TSN on Wednesday June 1, 2016, 10:30-11:30, we will be discussing the formation of a new independent national body dedicated to technical services issues. Please join us as we plan a way forward building on the many contributions of TSN/TSIG.
